Faux Corners

Selected & produced for exhibition at
2020 Milan Furniture Fair, Italy

We all partake in the thoughtless act of gravitating towards the walls of public spaces. This need to feel a surface or corner against parts of your body gives us a mental sense of personal space, especially in common walkways where these personal bubbles are not clearly defined.

Faux Corners are tessellating tiles of cork, concaved to provide pockets of acoustically damp personal spaces within public ones. When lined up, they resemble the curvatures of rolling sand dunes, partially hiding from view people whom are comfortably snugged between each wave.

The Acoustica project led my the collaborations Lasalle and Vanguard Interiors was brought to life and exhibited at Milano Design Week 2020. (The Design Fair was cancelled for the year due to Covid-19)

The following are footage planned, produced and edited by So Cheuk Ying (+65 9389 3875) and I.
