PlayBake

PlayBake is a 5pcs set of baking accessories inspired by the playful gestures of children, and aimed at encouraging adults to rethink the norms, get creative, and just have fun!

What started as an exploration on the tiresome job of being a preschool teacher turned out to reveal more about the psychological well-being of the children there; stemmed from the lack of free play and overly authoritative adults in their lives. To reintroduce free play into the lives of children in Singapore’s neighborhood preschools, I believed that the joy of child’s play must be re-experienced by adults, before children can mimic and learn from us. Through a common interactive activity such as baking, these baking accessories, inspired by the “wrong” but very natural and playful gestures of children, alter the actions of the user, bringing back the aspect of play.
